I’ve been working with other artists and authors on an exciting new project, a shared universe populated by characters created by the likes of Harry Connolly, Julie Czernada, Martha Wells, me, and more! It’s a Kickstarter project, meaning that we are raising money up front in order to publish the first anthology. Those who donate at various levels will qualify for special benefits and perks, rather like PBS fundraising. I hope you will check it out and consider supporting us!
Go have a look!

To sign up, visit my Facebook Fan page here. If you’ve never been there before, you’ll see the splashy new cover page designed for me by Dennis Chica at Caped Heroes. If not, go to “Mailing List” in the navigation to the left and it will take you there. While there, hit the refresh button a few times and watch what happens.
This will be the best place to get news about conventions and new products.
Thanks, Dennis!

Rita and I are heading to Milan on Sunday afternoon, the 2nd of October, for a Magic: the Gathering tournament. We’ll spend a week there, then a most of the next week moseying down toward Rome. This will be our first real vacation in 6 years, and only our second in thirty years!

And I have been busting my ass to get stuff readied!
Comic Con is first up, July 22-25 at the San Diego Convention Center. Find me in booth 4722, as in the last two years. Some new prints, and lots of originals big and small.
After that will be Dragon Con, September 3-6 in Atlanta. Not sure exactly what I’ll have there yet, but some combination of the above …
Hope to see you there!

Pete and Ania do a sci-fi and fantasy art blog, with podcasts. I sat down with them at Chattacon a month or so ago. Check it out at their site: Episode 11 is the one you want.

A good friend of mine (and damn talented man, too), Anthony Waters, is participating in a concept art workshop in just a couple of weekends. He writes:
There’s going to be a concept art workshop hosted by the Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna, California the first full weekend in February, and we want you!

I’ve linked to my DA page for the flyer; in case it doesn’t work, I’m including my URLs and the school contact information too. The event will take place on Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February, 8 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in studio 9, at the LCAD campus. Lunch will be provided.
The workshop will feature presentations by Anthony Waters (that would be me), Dean Deakyne, Farzad Varahrayan and Joe Peterson.
The cost of the event is $235. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required by Friday, January 30. The remaining balance is due Friday, February 6 at noon. Please contact Kerri Redeker at 949-376-6000 ext. 240 or kredeker@lagunacollege.edu to provide your payment. She accepts Visa, Mastercard, check, and cash.
There you go. Come on down, it’s gonna rock!

Anthony is one of the most creative concept guys I know. He was a staff artist doing concept work for Magic: the Gathering when I first moved to Washington to join the Wizards of the Coast staff. We’ve been great friends since.
If he says this house is gonna rock, then it’s gonna.
Also, be sure to check out Anthony’s website. Look for the “Canyon of Guts.”
He’s a sick man.
That’s why I like him …
